How does laser tattoo removal work?

Lasers produce short pulses of intense light that pass through the top layers of the skin and are selectively absorbed by the tattoo ink.  This laser energy causes the large tattoo ink molecules to break into smaller "bite-sized" particles--which can then be removed by the body's immune system.

Treatment feels similar to getting a tattoo with the advantage of laser tattoo removal being much quicker.  Numbing cream is available for purchase and application (in-office only).

FASTER Tattoo Removal With R-20

The R-20 laser tattoo removal method is a fast-track version of traditional laser tattoo removal.  R-20 allows clients to have more than one laser treatment in a single office visit.  This means that the total amount of time to remove the tattoo can be significantly reduced.  The R-20 laser tattoo removal method is often the first choice for clients looking to remove their tattoos quickly.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

Laser tattoo removal pricing is dependent on the size of the tattoo. Prices start from $50 per visit for the smallest tattoos and can go up to $700 per session for very big tattoos.  A consultation is required for a definitive price quote. All consultations are FREE and same day treatments are often available.​​​​​

Is laser tattoo removal safe?

Yes.  Researchers have determined which wavelengths of light to use and how to deliver the laser's output to best remove tattoo ink---without damaging the surrounding skin.  It is imperative that clients AVOID 'sun-tanning' the skin (in and around the tattoo site) in any manner for a minimum of 3-4 weeks prior to your laser session.

 

What kind of laser(s) are used to remove tattoos?

Radiance Laser & Skin Care Centers has multiple lasers and wavelengths for all your tattoo removal needs.  We offer the following wavelenghths: 532nm, 755nm, 1064nm and 1320nm.  In addition, we offer traditional Q-switch AND NEW Picosecond laser technologies.  This allows us to treat virtually all tattoo ink colors!

 

How many laser tattoo removal treatments will I need?

Tattoo fading begins immediately after your first laser session.  The total number of visits required for satisfactory fading/removal varies with several factors: *ink chemistry, *ink color, *ink depth and *individual immune response.  Most folks should expect to need 4-8 separate treatments over time.  Laser tattoo removal treatments are generally scheduled 4-8 weeks apart---depending on the treatment number and ongoing results.

Why do some tattoos take longer to treat?

There are several individual factors that affect how your tattoo responds to laser treatments.  They include:

How do I prepare for a laser tattoo removal treatment?

Prior to your laser tattoo removal session(s): Avoid sun-exposure in the treatment area for a minimum of  3-4 weeks prior to treatment. Avoid use of sunless tanning creams for 7 days prior to treatment. Avoid use of tattoo fading creams for 4-6 weeks prior to laser treatment.  Tell your laser practitioner about medications/supplements that you are currently taking OR have taken in the last 6 months.

 

Does laser tattoo removal have side effects?

The risk of permanent side effects after laser tattoo removal treatments is small.  We have successfully treated hundreds, if not thousands, of clients without incident.  However, as with most cosmetic laser treatments, there is some risk of scarring and change in skin color after laser tattoo removal treatments.  Make certain to inform your laser practitioner about your recent history of sun exposure and medication use in order to reduce the risk of post-treatment side effects.

 

Am I a candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?

If you are in good health (no serious health concerns), have realistic expectations and you do NOT have a history of 'keloid scarring' in your family or personal history, you are likely a good candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal.

How does laser vein removal work?

We use the advanced 980nm diode laser to safely target unwanted red/purple skin discolorations caused by broken blood vessels.  These include: spider veins on the face & legs, nose veins, cherry hemangiomas (red spots), and redness associated with rosacea.  During laser treatment, the handpiece is guided over the unwanted blood vessels.

We have several lasers that target and remove unwanted brown spots and pigment.  The laser light selectively targets brown pigment and can fade/remove within 7-14 days.  Treatment is ideal for clients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no downtime and has a low risk of side effects. Laser treatments can target unwanted brown spots on the face, chest, neck and hands --anywhere that sun damage shows.

 

How long does laser spot removal treatment take?

A laser spot removal treatment can take anywhere from five to forty-five minutes depending on the number and size of the area(s) being treated.

Laser energy destroys the virus that causes cold sores. Laser treatment is quick and can be performed without numbing creams. Cold sores re-occur with less intensity and frequency at the same location after laser treatment.  It's easy.

How effective is a cold sore laser treatment?

Laser treatments are very effective for treating cold sore outbreaks. What are cold sores?

Also known as "fever blisters", Cold Sores are a painful, embarrassing AND highly contagious blister that can form on the lips, chin, cheeks, and chin. They typically last two to three weeks if not treated. Laser therapy is a great option to help treat cold sores in their early stages. If early enough our lasers can effectively treat and speed up your healing time.

Facts about cold sores:

• They are caused by the Herpes Simplex Type 1 virus

• They are highly contagious

• Cold sore breakouts can be triggered by stress/lowered immune function

Treatment Expectations?

• Significant reduction and/or removal of pain normally caused by cold sores

• If laser treatment starts on Day 1 of symptoms (Stage 1: itching, tingling prior to visible symptoms), it is possible to stop breakout from occuring.  Pain, itching and tingling are usually significantly reduced or stopped.

How long does treatment take?

Laser treatment of cold sores takes 20 minutes or less.

How do I get best results?

Best results can be achieved by:

How long does a teeth whitening treatment take?

The express teeth whitening treatment takes only 15-minutes of in chair time.  The premium teeth whitening treatment takes only 30 minutes of in chair time.  You can bring ipod or headphones to listen to music if you wish.  

 

How white will my teeth get?

Most clients can expect their teeth to be 2-4 shades whiter with one 15 minute treatment.  Clients who have a lot of stain on their teeth can sometimes see a greater change.

 

Does the teeth whitening treatment work well on all teeth discolorations?

Our in office teeth whitening treatment works best on brown and yellow colored teeth discoloration.  These stain colors are often due to dietary choices, smoking and drinking coffee/tea.

Grey colored teeth discoloration is more resistant to treatment and can often be due to prior antibiotic use, etc.

How long will my teeth whitening results last?

Generally, most clients get several months worth of teeth whitening benefit.  Results can last longer or shorter than this.  This is due to the fact that teeth discoloration depends largely on individual dietary and teeth staining habits.

If you have brown or yellow teeth discoloration and your teeth are in good health, then you are a good candidate.

What are the potential risks, side effects and negatives about this treatment?

Our teeth whitening gel has the same active ingredient as Crest white strips which you can purchase in any store.  Although our gel is stronger, It is a very well studied and safe ingredient.  Risk of adverse side effects is very small.

What if I currently have white spots on my teeth?

White spots on your teeth or areas of white stripes are caused by calcium deposits and/or ingestion of fluoride found in drinking water. Following a teeth whitening treatment, these areas can become temporarily more noticeable.  In other words, the small white spots actually get whiter when compared to the rest of the tooth.  This generally gets becomes less obvious in a very short time.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
