How does laser vein removal work?

We use the advanced 980nm diode laser to safely target unwanted red/purple skin discolorations caused by broken blood vessels. These include: spider veins on the face & legs, nose veins, cherry hemangiomas (red spots), and redness associated with rosacea. During laser treatment, the handpiece is guided over the unwanted blood vessels.

The laser emits protons which are then absorbed by blood cells in the spider veins--which generates heat and destroys the blood vessel. The 'heated' blood vessel (vein) shrinks and dissolves over time. The laser treatment is best designed for smaller diameter spider veins (purple/red in color) and NOT for varicose veins (e.g. wide, blue, raised veins).

The treatment is ideal for clients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no downtime and has a low risk of side effects.

How long does a laser vein removal treatment take?

While it depends on the size of the area being treated, the majority of treatments last 45 minutes or less.

What areas of the body can the laser vein treatment be performed?

The laser vein removal treatment can be used on the face and body. The most common areas for vein removal are: face, nose, and legs. Much of your skin's unwanted redness (broken blood vessels) can be attributed to prolonged sun exposure, lifestyle habits (e.g. drinking, smoking), skin trauma and certain skin conditions (e.g. rosacea).

When will I see results after my laser vein removal treatment?

Some visible changes will be noticed after your first treatment. However, many clients will require 1-4 separate laser treatments for best results. Generally, a rest period of 3-4 weeks in between laser treatments is required for the body to absorb the treated vessels and for the skin to heal.

In short, it may take several weeks or even months to see the final result----depending on the size and severity of the skin issue being treated.

How many laser vein removal treatments do I need?

This depends entirely on the severity and size of the skin condition(s) that we are treating. The average client requires 1-4 separate laser treatments over several months for best results.

What can I expect after the treatment?

Immediately following your laser vein treatment, it is common for your unwanted spider veins to be blurred in appearance and slightly raised at the treatment site. A small, generally tolerable amount of heat can also be felt locally. Temporary redness and inflammation lasting a short time is normal. The great majority of clients will NOT experience any downtime.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Individual response to treatment varies. Localized redness and slight inflammation are common---and generally resolve with icing in a short amount of time. Bruising can sometimes be seen at the treatment site. NOTE: most post-treatment reactions resolve within 7 days. Make-up can usually be worn the same or next day.

Does a laser vein treatment hurt?

The procedure involves only minimal discomfort and the majority of clients tolerate it very well. Post treatment icing is usually done in office and can be continued at home (if necessary). Numbing cream can be acquired from local pharmacists.

Who is NOT a candidate for the laser vein removal treatment?

*Clients with blue, raised varicose veins.

*Anyone who has recently been sun-tanning (3 weeks before treatment)

*Clients on medications with sunlight exposure warnings (Accutane, Tetracycline, etc)
